Arcade - Hardware/Software
Once I had the dimensions for the inside of the cabinet and had settled on using a LCD display it really just came down to finding one that would fit. I was a little frustrated that I would be stuck with a widescreen display since they don't make 3:4 LCDs large enough to fill the cabinet, I wanted the largest I could reasonably fit. I found a Samsung 27" computer monitor that should just fit in landscape when I remove the bezel. It's not ideal for portrait games but not at all terrible either. Then again even an arcade CRT monitor wouldn't work well for both orientations. Maybe I'll just have to pick up a second cabinet with a portrait LCD that I can model after one of the other fictional Kevin Flynn games like Matrix Blaster!
